A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Recly Competitions 1.0. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file add.php. The manipulation of the argument mosConfig_absolute_path with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. Multiple PHP remote file inclusion vulnerabilities in the Recly!Competitions (com_competitions) component 1.0 for Joomla! allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a URL in the (1) GLOBALS[mosConfig_absolute_path] parameter to (a) add.php and (b) competitions.php in includes/competitions/, and the (2) mosConfig_absolute_path parameter to (c) includes/settings/settings.php.
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2008 by NoGe (Website). The advisory is available at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-5790 since 12/30/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
A public exploit has been developed by NoGe and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:add.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
