The bug was discovered 01/13/2009. The weakness was presented 01/13/2009 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (TippingPoint) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2008-4014 since 09/09/2008. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a single authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in Python. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19267 (Oracle January 2009 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities).
