The bug was discovered 01/13/2009. The weakness was released 01/13/2009 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (TippingPoint) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-5438 since 12/11/2008. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in Python. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
