A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Novell GroupWise up to 8.0 (Groupware Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the component GroupWise Internet Agent. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Off-by-one error in the SMTP daemon in GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) in Novell GroupWise 6.5x, 7.0, 7.01, 7.02, 7.03, 7.03HP1a, and 8.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long e-mail address in a malformed RCPT command, leading to a buffer overflow.
The weakness was disclosed 02/03/2009 by Nick DeBaggis with TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is shared for download at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-0410 since 02/03/2009. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx.
