A vulnerability was found in Python 2.7.5/2.7.6/3.3.5 (Programming Language Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file _json.c of the component JSON Module. The manipulation of the argument index with the input value -1 leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality.
The weakness was presented 06/23/2014 by Guido Vranken as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org.
