A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Weberr RWCards 3.0.11. This issue affects an unknown function. The manipulation of the argument img with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in captcha/captcha_image.php in the RWCards (com_rwcards) 3.0.11 component for Joomla!, when magic_quotes_gpc is disabled, allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via directory traversal sequences in the img parameter.
The weakness was presented 02/19/2009 by Vrs-hCk (Website). The advisory is shared at milw0rm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-6172 since 02/19/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
