A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player (Multimedia Player Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component File Processing. Adobe Flash Player 9.x before 9.0.159.0 and 10.x before 10.0.22.87 does not properly remove references to destroyed objects during Shockwave Flash file processing, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted file, related to a "buffer overflow issue."
The bug was discovered 02/24/2009. The weakness was disclosed 02/26/2009 (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-0520 since 02/10/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
