Details
A vulnerability was found in PHPmyGallery 1.5 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown function of the component Core. The manipulation of the argument conf[lang] with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in _conf/_php-core/common-tpl-vars.php in PHPmyGallery 1.5 beta allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the conf[lang] parameter, a different issue than CVE-2008-6318. NOTE: this might be the same issue as CVE-2008-6316.
The weakness was released 02/27/2009 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-6317 since 02/26/2009.
