IBM DB2 9.5 before FP9, 9.7 through FP5, and 9.8 through FP4 does not properly check variables, which allows remote authenticated users to bypass intended restrictions on viewing table data by leveraging the CREATEIN privilege to execute crafted SQL CREATE VARIABLE statements.

The weakness was published 03/06/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0709 since 01/17/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. A single authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
