Heap-based buffer overflow in Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 before 9.1, 8 before 8.1.4, and 7 before 7.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a PDF file with a malformed JBIG2 symbol dictionary segment, a different vulnerability than CVE-2009-1061 and CVE-2009-1062.
The weakness was disclosed 03/24/2009 by iDefense Labs with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-0193 since 01/19/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 39906 (openSUSE Security Update : acroread (acroread-689)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
