WebKit, as used in Apple iOS before 5.1 and iTunes before 10.6, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted web site, a different vulnerability than other WebKit CVEs listed in APPLE-SA-2012-03-07-1 and APPLE-SA-2012-03-07-2.
The weakness was shared 03/07/2012 by miaubiz and Martin Barbella (Slawomir Blazek) with 2012 iOS Jailbreak Dream Team as HT5190 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-0591 since 01/12/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 01/11/2025).
