Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the component Calendar Server. The manipulation of the argument tzid with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. Sun Calendar Express Web Server in Sun ONE Calendar Server 6.0 and Sun Java System Calendar Server 6 2004Q2 through 6.3-7.01 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via multiple requests to the default URI with alphabetic characters in the tzid parameter.
The weakness was presented 04/01/2009 by CORE Security with CORE Security Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared for download at sunsolve.sun.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1219 since 04/01/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
