A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Oracle BEA Product Suite 9.1 (Application Server Software). As an impact it is known to affect integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Unspecified vulnerability in the WebLogic Server component in BEA Product Suite 10.3, 10.0 MP1, 9.2 MP3, 9.1, and 9.0 allows remote attackers to affect integrity via unknown vectors related to "access to source code of web pages."
The bug was discovered 04/14/2009. The weakness was published 04/15/2009 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (iDefense) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-1003 since 03/19/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in Python. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86836 (Oracle WebLogic Server Web Pages Source Code Disclosure Vulnerability (WLS-Security-1003)).
A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 8052.
