Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the MozSearch plugin implementation in Mozilla Firefox before 3.0.9 allows user-assisted remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a javascript: URI in the SearchForm element.
The bug was discovered 04/21/2009. The weakness was published 04/22/2009 by Gregory Fleischer (moz_bug_r_a4) with Martijn Wargers as Bug 483086 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-1310 since 04/16/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
