A vulnerability was found in R020 TemaTres 1.0.3/1.031. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file index.php. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in TemaTres 1.0.3 and 1.031 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) search form; (2) _expresion_de_busqueda, (3) letra, (4) estado_id, and (5) tema parameters to index.php; the (6) PATH_INFO to index.php; (7) unspecified parameters when editing a term as specified by the edit_id and tema parameters to index.php; and the (7) y, (8) ord, and (9) m parameters to sobre.php.
The bug was discovered 04/23/2009. The weakness was published 05/05/2009 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-1583 since 05/07/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed in Perl and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 11 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12285 (TemaTres SQL Injection and Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities).
A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
