A vulnerability was found in Intel e1000 and classified as critical. Integer underflow in the e1000_clean_rx_irq function in drivers/net/e1000/e1000_main.c in the e1000 driver in the Linux kernel before 2.6.30-rc8, the e1000e driver in the Linux kernel, and Intel Wired Ethernet (aka e1000) before 7.5.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) via a crafted frame size.
The weakness was released 06/02/2009 as Bug 502981 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1385 since 04/23/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
