EMC RSA enVision 4.x before 4.1 Patch 4 does not properly restrict the number of failed authentication attempts, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain access via a brute-force attack.
The weakness was presented 03/19/2012 by Filip Palian as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-0400 since 01/09/2012. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 4.1 Patch 4 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
