A vulnerability was found in TorrentTrader Classic 1.09 (Peer-to-Peer Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file phpinfo.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-264. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

TorrentTrader Classic 1.09 allows remote attackers to (1) obtain configuration information via a direct request to phpinfo.php, which calls the phpinfo function; and allows remote attackers to (2) obtain other potentially sensitive information via a direct request to check.php.

The weakness was disclosed 06/22/2009 by Janek Vind with waraxe (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-2160 since 06/22/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by waraxe and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 7 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:phpinfo.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (51149), Exploit-DB (8958), SecurityFocus (BID 35369†) and Secunia (SA35456†).
