A vulnerability has been found in Samba up to 3.0.24 (File Transfer Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function acl_group_override of the component Access Control List. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. The acl_group_override function in smbd/posix_acls.c in smbd in Samba 3.0.x before 3.0.35, 3.1.x and 3.2.x before 3.2.13, and 3.3.x before 3.3.6, when dos filemode is enabled, allows remote attackers to modify access control lists for files via vectors related to read access to uninitialized memory.
The bug was discovered 06/23/2009. The weakness was shared 06/24/2009 by Jeremy Allison (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com.
