Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Oracle Database Server 10.1.8.3 (Database Software). Affected is an unknown code block. The manipulation of the argument search_p_groups with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:

Unspecified vulnerability in the Secure Enterprise Search component in Oracle Database 10.1.8.3 allows remote attackers to affect integrity via unknown vectors. NOTE: the previous information was obtained from the July 2009 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from an established researcher that this is cross-site scripting (XSS) via the search_p_groups parameter in search/query/search.

The weakness was released 07/14/2009 by DiGiT with Digital Security Research Group (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-1968 since 06/08/2009. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
