RealNetworks Helix Server and Helix Mobile Server before 13.0.0 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via an RTSP SETUP request that (1) specifies the / URI or (2) lacks a / character in the URI.
The weakness was disclosed 07/14/2009 by CORE Security with CORE Security Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-2534 since 07/17/2009. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
