The weakness was disclosed 03/19/2012 by Suman Jana and Vitaly Shmatikov as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. The public release happened without coordination with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-1443 since 02/29/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

A public exploit has been developed by Suman Jana / Vitaly Shmatikov and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at seclists.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
