A vulnerability has been found in Claudio Matsuoka Extended Module Player up to 2.4.0 and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part. Extended Module Player (XMP) 2.5.1 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an OXM file with a negative value, which bypasses a check in (1) test_oxm and (2) decrunch_oxm functions in misc/oxm.c, leading to a buffer overflow.
The weakness was published 09/13/2009 by Luigi Auriemma (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-6731. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
