A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Bugzilla 3.4/3.4.1 (Bug Tracking Software). It has been rated as critical. token.cgi in Bugzilla 3.4rc1 through 3.4.1 places a password in a URL at the beginning of a login session that occurs immediately after a password reset, which allows context-dependent attackers to discover passwords by reading (1) web-server access logs, (2) web-server Referer logs, or (3) the browser history.
The weakness was presented 09/15/2009 by Max Kanat-Alexander (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-3166. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
