The getSVGDocument method in Google Chrome before 3.0.195.21 omits an unspecified "access check," which allows remote web servers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and conduct cross-site scripting attacks via unknown vectors, related to a user s visit to a different web server that hosts an SVG document.

The weakness was disclosed 09/15/2009 by Will Dormann (Inferno) with CERT (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-3264 since 09/18/2009. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
