The weakness was disclosed 04/05/2012 by Sergey Glazunov (Slawomir Blazek) with Google Chrome Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Google. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3069 since 08/09/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 58609 (FreeBSD : chromium -- multiple vulnerabilities (057130e6-7f61-11e1-8a43-00262d5ed8ee)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
