A vulnerability has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 3.5.3 (Web Browser) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. Mozilla Firefox before 3.0.15 and 3.5.x before 3.5.4, and SeaMonkey before 2.0, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted regular expression in a Proxy Auto-configuration (PAC) file.
The weakness was presented 10/29/2009 by regenrecht with iDEFENSE as MFSA2009-55 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2009-3372. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
