A vulnerability was found in GIMP 2.6.7 (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as very critical. Integer overflow in the ReadImage function in plug-ins/file-bmp/bmp-read.c in GIMP 2.6.7 might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a BMP file with crafted width and height values that trigger a heap-based buffer overflow.
The weakness was presented 11/09/2009 by Stefan Cornelius with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-1570 since 05/06/2009. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
