A vulnerability was found in Alt-N MDaemon up to 6.7.5 (Mail Server Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown functionality of the component IMAP4. The manipulation as part of a Directory leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in IMAP service in MDaemon 6.7.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (crash) and execute arbitrary code via a CREATE command with a long mailbox name.
The bug was discovered 04/26/2003. The weakness was released 04/28/2003 by D4rkGr3y (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at dhgroup.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2003-1470 since 10/24/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. A authentication is required for exploitation.
