A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Mozilla Bugzilla up to 3.5.1 (Bug Tracking Software). Affected is some unknown functionality of the component Installation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-264. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Bugzilla before 3.0.11, 3.2.x before 3.2.6, 3.4.x before 3.4.5, and 3.5.x before 3.5.3 does not block access to files and directories that are used by custom installations, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via requests for (1) CVS/, (2) contrib/, (3) docs/en/xml/, (4) t/, or (5) old-params.txt.
The weakness was disclosed 02/03/2010 by Max Kanat-Alexander as Bug 434801 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-3989. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 44426 (Bugzilla Directory Access Information Disclosure), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 116895 (Fedora update for Bugzilla (FEDORA-2010-1458)).
Upgrading to version 3.5.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
