A vulnerability has been found in DokuWiki (Content Management System) and classified as critical. A typo in the administrator permission check in the ACL Manager plugin (plugins/acl/ajax.php) in DokuWiki before 2009-12-25b allows remote attackers to gain privileges and access closed wikis by editing current ACL statements, as demonstrated in the wild in January 2010.
The weakness was presented 01/13/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-0288 since 01/12/2010. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by IHTeam and been published 1 days after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:lib/plugins/acl/ajax.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 44059 (DokuWiki ajax.php cmd[del] Parameter Security Bypass), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 116876 (Fedora Update for DokuWiki (FEDORA-2010-0800, FEDORA-2010-0770)).
Upgrading to version Release 2009-02-14 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
