A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in JoomlaWorks Jw Allvideos up to 3.2 (Content Management System). Affected is some unknown functionality of the file plugins/content/jw_allvideos/includes/download.php. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in includes/download.php in the JoomlaWorks AllVideos (Jw_allVideos) plugin 3.0 through 3.2 for Joomla! allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a ./../.../ (modified dot dot) in the file parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 02/14/2010 (Website). The advisory is available at joomlaworks.gr. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-0696 since 02/23/2010. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known.
