A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Greatjoomla Scriptegrator plugin 1.4.1 (Content Management System). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality in the library plugins/system/cdscriptegrator/libraries/highslide/js/jsloader.php of the component Libraries. The manipulation of the argument files[] with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in plugins/system/cdscriptegrator/libraries/highslide/js/jsloader.php in the Core Design Scriptegrator plugin 1.4.1 for Joomla! allows remote attackers to read, and possibly include and execute, arbitrary files via directory traversal sequences in the files[] parameter, a different vector than CVE-2010-0760.
The weakness was disclosed 02/18/2010 by S2 Crew with S2 Crew (Website). The advisory is shared for download at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-0759 since 02/26/2010. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
A public exploit has been developed by S2 Crew and been published immediately after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:plugins/system/cdscriptegrator/libraries/highslide/js/jsloader.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 44674 (Scriptegrator Plugin for Joomla! 'files[]' Parameter Remote File Include), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
