ImageIO in Apple Safari before 4.0.5 and iTunes before 9.1 on Windows does not ensure that memory access is associated with initialized memory, which allows remote attackers to obtain potentially sensitive information from process memory via a crafted TIFF image.
The weakness was disclosed 03/15/2010 by j00ru with Hispasec (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-0042 since 12/15/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
