A vulnerability was found in Corejoomla Com Communitypolls 1.0.4 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument controller with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the Community Polls (com_communitypolls) component 1.5.2, and possibly earlier, for Core Joomla! allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the controller parameter to index.php.

The weakness was shared 02/20/2010 by kaMtiEz (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-1081. The exploitation appears to be easy.
