A vulnerability was found in Oracle Supply Chain up to 6.2 (Supply Chain Management Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component Oracle Transportation Management. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource management vulnerability. The byterange filter in the Apache HTTP Server 1.3.x, 2.0.x through 2.0.64, and 2.2.x through 2.2.19 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a Range header that expresses multiple overlapping ranges, as exploited in the wild in August 2011, a different vulnerability than CVE-2007-0086.
The bug was discovered 08/23/2011. The weakness was disclosed 01/17/2012 by kingcope (Website). The advisory is shared for download at oracle.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-3192 since 08/19/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. A public exploit has been developed in ANSI C. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as attacked. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75425 (openSUSE Security Update : apache2 (openSUSE-SU-2011:0993-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 185025 (HP-UX Apache Web Server Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability (HPSBUX02707)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at oracle.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
