Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Administration Console in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 6.0 before 6.0.2.41, 6.1 before 6.1.0.31, and 7.0 before 7.0.0.9 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the URI.
The weakness was disclosed 04/01/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-0768. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 45431 (IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0 < Fix Pack 9), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86876 (IBM WebSphere Application Server Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 6.1.0.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
