A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Tug TeX Live (affected version not known). Affected by this issue is the function predospecial of the file dospecial.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a numeric error vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-189. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Integer overflow in the predospecial function in dospecial.c in dvips in (1) TeX Live and (2) teTeX might allow user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted DVI file that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was released 04/16/2010 by Marc Schoenefeld as Bug 572941 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-0739. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
