Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Google Chrome before 4.1.249.1059 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors related to a chrome://net-internals URI.
The weakness was disclosed 04/21/2010 by Robert Swiecki with Google Security Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-1503. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 45610 (Google Chrome < 4.1.249.1059 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 117982 (Google Chrome Multiple Vulnerabilities (versions prior to 4.1.249.1059)).
Upgrading to version 4.0.263.0 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com.
