The mysql_uninstall_plugin function in sql/sql_plugin.cc in MySQL 5.1 before 5.1.46 does not check privileges before uninstalling a plugin, which allows remote attackers to uninstall arbitrary plugins via the UNINSTALL PLUGIN command.
The weakness was disclosed 05/14/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-1621. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
