A vulnerability was found in Redcomponent Com Redtwitter 1.0b11 (Social Network Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument view with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the redTWITTER (com_redtwitter) component 1.0.x including 1.0b11 for Joomla! allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the view parameter to index.php. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was shared 04/04/2010 by NoGe (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-1983. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
