Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file index.php of the component com_simpledownload. Directory traversal vulnerability in the SimpleDownload (com_simpledownload) component before 0.9.6 for Joomla! allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the controller parameter to index.php.
The weakness was published 05/16/2010 by Xr0b0t (Website). The advisory is shared at extensions.joomla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-2122 since 06/01/2010. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
