A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player (Multimedia Player Software). It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Adobe Flash Player before 9.0.277.0 and 10.x before 10.1.53.64, and Adobe AIR before 2.0.2.12610, when used in conjunction with VMWare Tools on a VMWare platform, allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 06/15/2010 by Haifei Li with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-2189. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. Upgrading to version 9.0.124.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 9397.
