A vulnerability has been found in Google Chrome up to 4.1.249.1055 (Web Browser) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function Clipboard::DispatchObject. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The Clipboard::DispatchObject function in app/clipboard/clipboard.cc in Google Chrome before 5.0.375.70 does not properly handle CBF_SMBITMAP objects in a ViewHostMsg_ClipboardWriteObjectsAsync message, which might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via vectors involving crafted data from the renderer process, related to a "Type Confusion" issue.
The weakness was disclosed 06/15/2010 (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-2299. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
