A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in TaskFreak! up to 0.1.3. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file login.php of the component Login. The manipulation of the argument password with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in include/classes/tzn_user.php in TaskFreak! Original multi user before 0.6.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the password parameter to login.php.
The weakness was released 06/29/2010 with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at taskfreak.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-1521 since 04/26/2010. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
By approaching the search of inurl:login.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12379 (TaskFreak Cross-Site Scripting and SQL Injection Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 0.1.4 eliminates this vulnerability. It is possible to mitigate the problem by adding an authentication mechanism. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be adding authentication. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
