A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in HP OpenView Network Node Manager 7.53 (Network Management Software). This issue affects some unknown processing of the file webappmon.exe. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Stack-based buffer overflow in webappmon.exe in HP OpenView Network Node Manager (OV NNM) 7.51 and 7.53 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long OvJavaLocale value in a cookie.
The weakness was presented 08/03/2010 by CORE Security with CORE Security Technologies (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-2709. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
