Opera before 10.61 does not properly suppress clicks on download dialogs that became visible after a recent tab change, which allows remote attackers to conduct clickjacking attacks, and consequently execute arbitrary code, via vectors involving (1) closing a tab or (2) hiding a tab, a related issue to CVE-2005-2407.
The weakness was presented 08/16/2010 by Alexios Fakos (kuzzcc) as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-2576 since 07/01/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75691 (openSUSE Security Update : opera (openSUSE-SU-2010:0540-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165214 (SUSE Security Update for Multiple Packages (SUSE-SR:2010:016)).
Upgrading to version 7.20 eliminates this vulnerability.
