Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in PHP 5.3.0/5.3.1/5.3.2 (Programming Language Software). Affected by this vulnerability is the function php_mysqlnd_read_error_from_line of the component MySQL. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. The summary by CVE is:
The php_mysqlnd_read_error_from_line function in the Mysqlnd extension in PHP 5.3 through 5.3.2 does not properly calculate a buffer length, which allows context-dependent attackers to trigger a heap-based buffer overflow via crafted inputs that cause a negative length value to be used.
The weakness was presented 08/20/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared at svn.php.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-3063. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
