Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2 (Virtualization Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
libspice, as used in QEMU-KVM in the Hypervisor (aka rhev-hypervisor) in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 2.2 and qspice 0.3.0, does not properly validate guest QXL driver pointers, which allows guest OS users to cause a denial of service (invalid pointer dereference and guest OS crash) or possibly gain privileges via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was published 08/24/2010 by Izik Eidus (Website). The advisory is shared for download at rhn.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-0428. The attack needs to be approached locally. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 09/23/2021).
