A vulnerability was found in ProFTPD 1.2.7/1.2.8/1.2.9 Rc1/1.2.9 Rc2 (File Transfer Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function _xlate_ascii_write of the file containing. The manipulation of the argument RETR with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Off-by-one buffer overflow in _xlate_ascii_write() in ProFTPD 1.2.7 through 1.2.9rc2p allows local users to gain privileges via a 1024 byte RETR command.
